Bio
Joshua Zeitlin is a freelance trumpet player, composer, educator, and bandleader born and raised in Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas in 2023, followed by a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California in 2025.
Zeitlin has studied with Clarence Penn, Philip Dizack, Michael Stever, Josh Nelson, Rich DeRosa, Lynn Seaton, Alan Baylock, Rob Parton, and Vince Mendoza, among others.
As a member of the seven-time Grammy-nominated UNT One O'Clock Lab Band, Zeitlin performed alongside Miguel Zenón, Allison Miller, Greg Bissonnette, Arturo Sandoval, Jens Lindemann, Allen Vizzutti, Wycliffe Gordon, Chris Potter, and the Houston Symphony. He appeared on two recordings with the ensemble: Lab '23 and Big and Lovely.
Zeitlin is also the founder and leader of Hebrew Hancock, a Los Angeles-based creative music ensemble that fuses modern jazz with Jewish musical traditions. The group has performed at music venues and Jewish community spaces across Los Angeles and New York City.
